A what? A who?

‘Child and Family Well-Being Consultant’ is a role description I’ve created in an effort to represent what I do. My heartbeat is to see children and families thriving and I work to that end.

Many of the families I work with have children with a specific learning difficulty – something like Dyslexia or Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) – and although the child is being supported at school the family isn’t ticking over so well at home and in community. That’s where my years of experience in the field of Special Educational Needs (SEN) and working in communities can come in handy.

That’s not the case for all of them, though. Sometimes parental stress or out-of-kilter work-life balance is causing disruption; sometimes the desire to do things differently without the knowledge of where and how to start; and sometimes things at school are just, well,… complicated.
